8. DJs

In Everest Cast, the DJs section is where you manage live broadcasters who connect remotely to your station. The system is designed for a seamless switch between the automated AutoDJ and a live DJ.

  • Automated Switching: When a registered DJ connects using their external software, the system automatically fades the AutoDJ music and switches to the live feed. When the DJ disconnects, the AutoDJ resumes, ensuring uninterrupted broadcasting.
  • Prioritization: The AutoDJ has the lowest priority. If multiple DJs are configured, you can set a priority order, but typically any live connection takes precedence over the AutoDJ.
  • DJ Details in Metadata: You can configure the system to display the connecting DJ’s name in the metadata (the “Now Playing” information) that listeners see.

To allow someone to broadcast live, you must create a specific DJ account in the panel.

  1. Log in to your Everest Cast Broadcaster Panel.
  2. In the main navigation menu on the left, click on “DJs”.
  3. On the DJ Management page, click the “Add DJ” button.
  4. A new page/modal will open where you input the DJ’s details:
    • Image: Optionally upload an avatar for the DJ.
    • Name: Enter the DJ’s display name.
    • Password: Create a secure password that the DJ will use in their broadcasting software.
    • Active: Ensure the account is checked as “Active”.
  5. Click “Add DJ” to save the account.

Once the account is created, the DJ needs specific connection parameters:

  1. Click the “Edit” (pencil) icon next to the newly created DJ in the list.
  2. The edit page will display the required connection parameters (Hostname/IP, Port number, and the Password you assigned).
  3. The DJ uses this information to configure their third-party encoding software (e.g., Sam Broadcaster, OBS Studio, or BUTT).
  4. When they start streaming from their software, they will immediately go live on your station.
